Funding Success for Mirambeena Children’s Centre

Tuesday, 13 August 2019

Federal Member for Groom John McVeigh today announced $80,000 in funding to improve access to child care for children and families in Toowoomba.

Dr McVeigh said the Mirambeena Children’s Centre in Darling Heights would receive the funding under the Morrison Government’s Community Child Care Fund (CCCF).

“This funding will help the Mirambeena Children’s Centre in Darling Heights offer transport assistance to families in the community that currently experience barriers to accessing child care services,” he said.

“The Centre will purchase a school bus with the funding, that will provide a collection and drop off service in the community.”

Dr McVeigh said improved access to child care services would ensure more hard-working families in Toowoomba could take advantage of our Government’s Child Care Subsidy to work, learn or volunteer.

“The CCCF is part of our Government’s Child Care Safety Net, which aims to give the most vulnerable children a strong start, while supporting parents into work.”

Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the Morrison Government was providing more than
$7 million to 76 child care providers in disadvantaged areas across the country.

“Our Government is providing a record investment of $8.6 billion for child care this year,”
Mr Tehan said. “Our Child Care Subsidy has reduced out-of-pocket child care costs for families by more than 7.9 per cent.”

The Morrison Government has provided more than $120 million to 800 providers over five years to support more families to access child care through the CCCF.
